It is important to not only
know what the airport security rules are and what you can or
can not carry in your baggage but what your responsibilities
are while you are in flight. You should familiarize yourself
with the rules. This can prevent you from being involved in a
serious incident which may cause you to be detained when you
land.
When flying, it is your responsibility to
follow the directions of the flight attendants. One of the
biggest problems in-flight is the uncooperative passenger. This
is the person who gets up to go to the bathroom while the seat
belt light is on or is constantly seeking the attention of the
flight attendant or generally annoying to other passengers.
Confrontation in-flight is taken very
seriously. The seat belt light to remain seated is on for
safety reasons. If the flight attendant asks you to remain
seated and you make remarks which cause the situation to get
out of hand, you will be reported.
It is also very important you do not make jokes
that involve the use of a bomb or any other weapons. You
may be kidding. But jokes such as these are taken very
seriously due to the nature of the threats to airline
security. You should not use words such as bomb, gun, or
hijacking while you are on the plane or in the airport.
Your words may be taken out of context by another
passenger who overhears. If the plane has not taken off
and such remarks are reported, all passengers
may have to de-board and go through additional security
checks. If you are in-flight, there will probably be
security personnel waiting at the landing destination.
Though you may not perceive yourself as a
threat to the aircraft or its passengers, others may. This can
be interpreted as disturbing the peace or inciting panic aboard
an aircraft. You can be prosecuted.
To find out what the in-flight rules are for
the airline you are flying, you should contact them directly or
research the rules on the Internet. These rules are common
sense and would apply if you were not flying.
Traveling in a confined space is not always a
pleasant experience. The best thing to do is to apply common
sense to the situations that may
arise.
